As the General Counsel/ Corporate Secretary, Miss John will provide advice and counsel of good governance practices to the Port Council and all legal matters concerning the Authority. She is also responsible for Port Council and committee agendas and papers. Miss John has oversight for the legal officer and the paralegal secretary.
Prior to joining SLASPA Miss John worked as Manager, Legal with the National Infrastructure Development Company Limited (NIDCO) in Trinidad and Tobago. She brings to the Authority unique expertise and knowledge of substantive law and lawful practices with a wealth of experience in both infrastructure and aviation industries. Miss John also served as Legal Officer providing support to the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (AATT). Her experience with NIDCO and the AATT makes her quite apt to effectively function in her role as General Counsel and with management.
Ms. John holds a Bachelor of Law degree (LLB) (Hons) from the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill Campus), a Legal Education Certificate (LEC) from the Hugh Wooding Law School, and a Master of Law (LLM) (Distinction) in International Business Law with the Anglia Ruskin University.
