Guidelines and Safety Precautions

All vessels 12 metres and above; and vessels certified to carry fifteen (15) or more passenger must submit a. Garbage management plan and carry placards onboard. Companies will forward their garbage management plan to the Division for approval.

Regulation 10(1) of Annex V of MARPOL:

  • Every ship of 12 metres or more in length overall and fixed or floating platforms shall display placards which notify the crew and passengers of the disposal requirements of regulations, 3, 4, 5, and 6 of this Annex, as applicable.
 
  • The placards shall be written in the official language of the State whose flag the ship is entitled to fly and for ships engaged in voyages to ports or offshore terminals under the jurisdiction of other Parties to the Convention, in English or French.
